The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) was founded in 1950, is a non-profit educational and support organization in the USA.
SWE Scholarships support women pursuing ABET-accredited associate, bachelor and graduate student programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science worldwide.
SWE awarded roughly 230 fresh and renewed scholarships valued at more than 750,000. In the past 5 years, SWE has awarded more than 1,150 scholarships equivalent to more than $3.6 Million
The ultimate mission of the organization is to inspire women who are the SWE Scholarship winners, to achieve full potential in careers as leaders and trailblazers in engineering, expand the image of the profession as a constructive force in improving the quality of life and demonstrate the value of diversity.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarship is hosted in the USA.
However, there are numerous international scholarships for international students to study in any country of choice.

Eligible Countries
International students studying or planning to study an SWE-approved program are welcome to apply for SWE scholarships. The program does accept ABET-accredited international schools for some of our scholarships.
If you are an international student studying at a program in the United States, please select the respective state and school in your application.
If you are an international student studying at a program outside of the United States, please choose “other” when entering the state under the school sections.

Scholarships Benefits
SWE Scholarship Application offers a financial benefit to the beneficiaries which ranges from $1,000 to $15,000, most of which are renewable yearly.
Who is Eligible?
You’re eligible if you are:
- A person who Identifies as female
- An incoming freshman through graduate student
- Studying engineering full-time (exceptions made for re-entry/non-traditional students)
- Enrolled in an ABET-accredited program
- A community college, university, or re-entry/ non-traditional student
Selection Criteria
SWE judges applications based on four main criteria – academic preparation, leadership and activities, work experience, and interest in engineering. Make sure to highlight these areas on your application!
